CLICK HERE FOR FITNESS & NUTRITION CENTER DATABASE With the country's interest in staying healthy and living longer, everyone knows it's to our advantage to keep in shape. Keeping physically fit however, doesn't have to be that strenuous or time consuming. Even someone who has not been very active for years can begin on the road to fitness by simply incorporating exercise into his or her everyday activities. Because people are so busy during the week, some try to fit exercise into their routine in natural ways such as taking a few extra minutes to climb up a flight of stairs instead of taking the elevator. Some people have started taking early morning walks to get a newspaper or mail a letter. As you begin to add steps to your day, you will see that the key to becoming more active is learning to identify opportunities for physical activity and being willing to take advantage of them as they arise. Physical activity is important because it increases the body's blood circulation and respiration. This puts an end to sluggishness and mental weariness that seems to strike everyday at 2:00. When the body is exercised regularly, we are able to digest our food a lot better with less of what passes through our lips showing up on our hips! From homemade facials to breaking into the modeling field can be found at Fashion-Beauty.com There are other benefits to increased exercise such as how much better we look in those clothes that used to be too tight. And of course... everyone likes to look better. When we look better, we feel better about ourselves and get along better with other people too. Once we get into the habit of everyday exercise, muscles quickly respond and we find our endurance increases with less effort required. As important as it is to get plenty of exercise, it's equally important to eat healthy foods that are low in fat and sodium. Cutting down on these types of foods decreases the chance of stroke, heart attack, and high blood pressure. There are a few good ideas we can use to help us start (and stay) on the road to fitness. Try starting off with activities that you actually enjoy and engaging in a wide variety of activities, so it remains interesting. Work out with a friend, family member, or co-worker so you can encourage and motivate one another. Set realistic short and long-term goals... short-term goals help us become motivated to start and long-term goals help us to keep going. Reward yourself for reaching your goals in "non-destructive" ways such as buying a new pair of sneakers or having a massage rather than a banana split. Set aside a particular time during the day for your workouts so that it becomes a natural part of your routine. Don't let your routine become a rut... vary the location in which you work out. Instead of going for the same walk every day, do an "about-face" and check out the scenery in the other direction. Perseverance is the secret to lasting fitness! Even if you feel especially tired or busy, go ahead and take your walk or go to your workout. Your body actually gets added energy from the increase of activity and the vigorous blood circulation adds to mental alertness. Do this all in balance though, remember... you're not a robot! Cut yourself some slack... Although it's good to increase your fitness by working out and even build your endurance by pushing your limits a little, activities that are too strenuous or carried on for too long a duration can lead to sports related injury. By taking care of our bodies, we not only can expect to live longer lives but the quality of our lives will be richer too. Investing a little time and energy now, by engaging in a few activities we find interesting, we gain the divide |
